1) The blizzard of '77 along with the early spring and melting. This caused the overflow of water and toxic chemicals to then rise to the surface of the first cap that was installed by Hooker chemical.
2) Most of the chemicals dumped there were linked to cancer. There were also birth defects and miscarriages.
3) The underground animals like moles and groundhogs can die by going to this place. The predatory animals were also hurt because if they ate things like moles they could die because of no food in the area.
